Students
who use probeware see and achieve more. Students
learn by doing, and nowhere is that more true
than in the science classroom. Through STEP.com,
Newport News Public Schools is introducing
PASCO probeware, handheld
technology that capitalizes on the potential
of the computer for scientific experimentation
and analysis. With probeware, students are
able to collect and analyze data in real time,
adding an important dimension to classroom
labwork. And, its portability and easy set-up
also make probeware attractive for field work.
Results show that students who use probeware
and computers to collect and analyze data score
significantly higher on the NAEP Science scale
than those who do not use this kind of technology.
